For the Meatballs:

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup milk

  • ½ tsp allspice
  • Salt & pepper to taste

For the Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream or sour cream
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Salt & pepper to taste

For the Bake:

  • 12 oz egg noodles, cooked al dente
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella or Swiss cheese
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatballs: In a large bowl, mix ground beef, pork, onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, milk, nutmeg, allspice, salt, and pepper. Form into small balls.
  2. Cook the Meatballs: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides, then remove and set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, melt butter. Add flour and whisk for 1–2 minutes. Gradually add beef broth, stirring until smooth. Add cream, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon, salt, and pepper. Simmer until thickened.
  4. Combine and Assemble: In a large bowl, mix cooked noodles, meatballs, and sauce. Pour into a greased baking dish.
  5. Add Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly on top.
  6. Bake: Bake uncovered at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes or until bubbly and golden.
  7. Serve: Let rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley.
