Description

Florentine butter chicken is a creamy, flavorful fusion dish that blends the richness of classic butter chicken with the freshness of spinach and Parmesan. It’s a comforting yet elegant recipe, perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs (cubed)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp red chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
  • Fresh parsley or basil, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season chicken with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet and sear chicken until golden brown. Set aside.
  3. In the same pan, melt butter, then sauté onions until soft. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  4. Stir in tomato puree, Italian seasoning, and chili flakes. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Add chicken broth and reduce slightly.
  6. Pour in heavy cream, then whisk in Parmesan until smooth.
  7. Add spinach and cook until wilted.
  8. Return chicken to the skillet, coat in sauce, and simmer for 10 minutes.
  9. Garnish with parsley or basil. Serve hot with rice, pasta, or bread.

Notes

  • Use chicken thighs for juicier results.
  • Add mushrooms or sun-dried tomatoes for extra depth.
  • For a dairy-free version, replace cream with coconut cream and Parmesan with nutritional yeast.
  • Leftovers taste even better the next day—store in the fridge for up to 4 days.
